Churches and Minister’s Ethics
Fire International Fellowship of Churches and Ministers is an organization that seeks to encourage, equip, support, come alongside, strengthen and provide the needed fire for affiliated ministers/churches so that together we may more effectively fulfill the great commission through training and assistance. If you ask to partner with Fire International Fellowship of Churches and Ministers, you are indicating that you accept and agree to the following:
Certification:
I have read, understand, and agree to follow the FIFOCM Code of Ethics (as outlined below). There is nothing in my background that would impact negatively on my ability to serve as a minister. I realize that I must contact my own Church or organization at least once each year and keep my own Church or organization advised of any change in my address. If I fail to do this, I will not be in good standing with the FIFOCM. Further, I agree if anyone contacts the FIFOCM to inquire if I am an ordained minister of my own church or organization in good standing, I give my permission to the FIFOCM to answer that
question. I will not re-sell or make copies of any materials I receive from the FIFOCM.
Code of Ethics:
Fire International is a religious organization dedicated to the enhancement of each person's spiritual growth and development and thus to the worth, dignity, well-being, and unique potential of each individual and church. As the Code of Ethics of FIFOCM, this document establishes principles that define the ethical behavior of all churches and ministers of this partnership. A violation of the Code of Ethics constitutes ministerial misconduct and may result in withdrawal.
Ethical Standards - Responsibility:
Churches and Ministers are fully responsible for their ministerial decisions and actions.
Churches and Ministers have an essential responsibility to do no harm. The well-being of those served is paramount.
Competence:
Churches and Ministers must recognize the limits of their competence and must practice within
the scope of their background, training, knowledge, and experience.
They are urged to maintain competence in their areas of practice through continuing education
and experience.
Moral and Legal Standards:
Churches and Ministers' moral, ethical, and legal standards of behavior as they pertain to their
ministerial duties must serve to enhance the spiritual growth and development of those they serve
and reflect positively on their church, organization and FIFOCM.
In their service role, Churches and Ministers must not engage in any action that will violate or
diminish the legal or civil rights of anyone they serve.
Being found guilty in a court of law of an offense that compromises a minister's suitability to
serve in a ministerial role is misconduct.
When ministers are confronted with conflict among moral, ethical, and/or legal standards of conduct, the ministers must search their own conscience and consult with the Lord, then confer in confidence with a clerical colleague and/or their Church, and seek legal advice when necessary, in order that they may resolve the dilemma in favor of the Highest Good of all
concerned.
Public Statements:
In public statements regarding their ministry, including advertising, ministers must represent themselves as members of the clergy, using an appropriate title such as Minister, Elder, Bishop, Pastor, etc.
Ministers' public statements must not contain false or misleading information regarding their
credentials or the ministerial services which they offer.
All public statements must be consistent with the Code of Ethics.
